Rick Najera is not an activist.
That’s not a shot at the actor-writer-director-producer and he’ll be the first to tell you. Rick is a man who is unafraid to speak his mind and is an artist who is pointing out the reality and vagaries of the Latino experience in America.
Also a playwright, a professional speaker and an acting coach Rick joins us to discuss how far the image and perception of Latinos has come in Hollywood and how much more needs to be done.
In his recent memoir, Almost White: Forced Confessions of a Latino in Hollywood published by SmileyBooks – a division of Hay House, Rick explores what it means to be a Latino against the ever-changing backdrop of his life as a Hollywood creative. In the book he advocates for Latinos to realize the potential all 53 million of us have to make a difference politically and in the entertainment world.
Rick took matters into his own hands and started writing his way into Hollywood and suggests all Latinos look to empower themselves in similar ways.
Despite the repercussions of his outspokenness, Rick Najera continues to be one of the most influential Latinos in the United States.
Of course he also knows how to have fun, Robles & Rosado-style.
